The Code 11.59 I bought for the case
The story
I bought this one for the case. Steel with a black ceramic middle section, the double-curved crystal that makes the dial look deeper than it is, and a smoked dial that read differently at every angle. At the time it was the most interesting thing Audemars Piguet was doing outside the Royal Oak.
It also taught me the line. Once I had lived with the case, the Starwheel in the same family became inevitable. The two now sit side by side: the same architecture, one with a smoked dial and one with a wandering-hours sky.

- Its double-curved sapphire is convex on both faces, correcting lateral distortion.
