A sonnerie for the price of a service
The story
I collect high and low, and this is the low end doing something the high end used to keep to itself. The Bel Canto strikes once every hour, a single note from a hammer and gong you can watch through the dial. That is a sonnerie au passage, a striking complication, for less than the cost of servicing some of the watches beside it.
The salmon dial and titanium case were my choice because they make it look nothing like a budget watch. It gets more questions at dinner than watches costing many times more, and the answer, an English brand, a chime, a visible mechanism, is a good conversation to have.

Notes on the watch
- The Bel Canto brought a sonnerie au passage striking complication under 5,000 pounds sterling.
- Strikes once at the top of each hour with a visible hammer and gong on the dial side; the striking can be switched off.
- Calibre FS01, built on Christopher Ward's SH21 base with a striking module developed in house.
- Titanium case, 41mm.
