Some watches are made to be shown. This one was made to be mine
My first fully customised watch started with an email to La Chaux-de-Fonds. Lundis Bleus is a Swiss brand founded by Bastien Vuilliomenet, a grand feu enamel master, and probably the best value in serious enamel today.
The real fun of a customised watch was the back and forth. Bastien understood what I wanted: enamel that refuses to stay one colour. He fired a few experiments for me to choose from, and my favourite was the lavender against blue. The secret is a metal base under opalescent enamel, so the light bounces differently at every angle and the colour shifts with it.
Then came my favourite part, and the most modern part. I sat with ChatGPT generating rendering after rendering, index colour against dial, matching straps, until the picture in my head finally appeared on the screen. I sent Bastien my favourites. AI helped me dream it. His kiln made it real.
After several small demos, he fired the actual dial. Then he sent me a photo pointing out some tiny, almost invisible bubbles, and decided to start again. Nobody asked him to. That is when I knew I had chosen the right hands. The indexes carry two colours that hold a family story nobody else can read. That is a romance I keep to myself.
The finished dial shifts between lavender and blue, and my camera still cannot catch it. Honestly, that feels right. It is a steel watch, so it goes out on ordinary days, and the dial does something different at every table.
Details with a purpose
An idea to explore together
From a personal commission to a digital story, I am interested in the details behind how watches come to life. Tell me which part caught your eye.
